This year, we are offering multiple self-guided rides. These all consist of differing lengths to various historical and fun sites. All ride information is provided via our navigation sponsor, WolfPack. NOTE: these rides have been planned without gas, refreshment or restroom breaks — they are just the overall route. Please be sure to plan accordingly for your ride.

Patsy Cline House

The Patsy Cline Historic House is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Street Landmarks Register. Located in a working-class neighborhood in the city of Winchester, Virginia, this modest house was the residence of country music legend Patsy Cline, who lived here from 1948-57, longer than at any other house associated with her. Even after her move to Nashville, she considered this South Kent Street house her home. Parking is limited. Ride is direct to the house and scenic returning.
Loy’s Station Covered Bridge

First constructed circa 1880, the Loy’s Station covered bridge is on Old Frederick Road, just south of Rt. 77. Although it has been structurally modified and rebuilt, the bridge’s original timbers remain throughout the 90-foot long structure crossing Owens Creek. It features a multiple Kingpost design. An adjoining park amenities include fishing, grills, picnic tables, picnic shelter, horseshoe pits and play equipment. Park open year-round 8am-sunset. *No stops planned in route*

Belle Grove is located in the northern Shenandoah Valley near Middletown, Virginia. It is an authentic 1797 Manor House, built by Major Isaac Hite and his wife Nelly Madison Hite, sister of President James Madison. Major Hite, grandson of Shenandoah Valley Pioneer Jost Hite, expanded his original 483 acres to a prosperous 7500 acre plantation, growing wheat, raising cattle and Merino sheep, and operating a large distillery and several mills
Wilson’s Wild Animal Park

Wilson’s Wild Animal Park is nestled in the northern Shenandoah Valley, just minutes from Winchester. The Park is home to more than 40 species and has been privately owned and operated since 1976. The park is set on 25-acre plot and has a gravel pathway approximately a mile long! As you walk through a comfortable park setting enjoying the many different animals you may see a lemur enjoying his/her lunch or the Lions doing what it seems they do best Napping Feeding is allowed at the park but limited to deer, sheep, goats, and llamas.
Middlesburg, VA

Middleburg was established in 1787 by American Revolutionary War Lieutenant Colonel and Virginia statesman John Leven Powell, who purchased the property from Joseph Chinn, a cousin of George Washington. Powell changed the name from “Chinn’s Crossroads” to Middleburg because the town was the halfway point between Alexandria and Winchester along the popular Ashby Gap trading route, along what is today Rte. 50.
You’ll find several wineries, the National Sport Museum, The Red Fox Inn & Tavern and a quaint main street full of shops. Ride time does not include shopping or dining time.
