The Helping Hands fund was created in 2019 to help some of our MAWMR sisters who, otherwise, would not be able to participate in the rally. Funds are donated during registration to create a goodwill fund for the following year. In 2019, we raised $620 to help defray the cost of registration for Rally attendees in need.
Nominations – must be received by February 15, 2020
To nominate a woman for the 2020 Rally, go to the Helping Hands Nomination Form, complete and submit it. You will be asked to provide a short narrative about the nominee and why they would benefit from Helping Hands. This nomination is open to all current and former Rally attendees as well as newbies. Self-nominations are also accepted.
There is no need to prove financial need, however the nomination form must include the name of the nominee, their interest in the Rally and a brief explaniation of how it will help them attend the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Motorcycle Rally. Funds will only be applied to the cost of basic registration and does not include hotel costs or other Rally activities.
The nominee process and submission will remain confidential. We will contact the person who submitted the application and the nominee only.
Distribution
The amount collected will be distributed evenly between the women who are nominated with the maximum amount allocated per person to be the cost of a full Rally registration. Recipients will be given a registration code to use when registering to simplify the accounting process and eliminating the disbursement of cash. If we do not receive any nominations, the Helping Hands fund will be included in the MAWMR donation to H.O.P.E. and Pink Out, and will not be renewed or rolled forward to 2021.
Donations
Donations for the 2021 Helping Hands fund can be made when you register for this year’s MAWMR which opens on January 1, 2020. There is an option on the registration form for Helping Hand donations starting in increments of $5.00.
Excellent idea!
I absolutely love this program I think it’s such a wonderful idea!
I honestly cannot think of anyone off hand., I trust the board explicitly and whatever decisions they make I’m on board with.
Amazing!!! Love this idea
